The Global One Health Day is scheduled to take place on the 3rd of November, 2016.
The one day event is an international campaign co-coordinated by the One Health Commission, the One Health Initiative and the One Health Platform Foundation aiming to build the political will necessary for a sea change in how planetary health challenges are assessed and addressed. It is designed to engage as many individuals as possible from as many arenas as possible in One Health education and awareness events, and to generate an inspiring array of projects worldwide.
One Health is the collaborative effort of multiple health science professions, together with their related disciplines and institutions – working locally, nationally, and globally – to attain optimal health for people, domestic animals, wildlife, plants, and our environment.
Separately the One Health Commission is also hosting the 2nd International Who’s Who in One Health Webinar on November 4, 2016.
This Webinar will bring together noted One Health leaders, advocates, professionals and students in real-time to discuss global One Health efforts while providing a forum for dialogue within and across disciplines. Click here to register for this event.
The Commonwealth Systems Framework for Healthy Policy works in line with this vision via the health protection component of the framework. It considers environmental health, specifically, which aims to assess, monitor, plan and deliver action to mitigate harm caused by environmental determinants such as air, soil, food, water and sanitation. It takes a ‘One Health’ approach, including human, animal and plant health as part of a planetary health approach.
